DIPLOMA of GOVERNMENT PSP50116
This qualification allows for the attainment of competencies required for independent and self-directed work in the public sector. There may be supervisory responsibilities.
The generalist qualification is particularly suited to those working in an environment where there are a range of responsibilities which are diverse in nature rather than within a narrow specialisation and/or who work in small or regionally based organisations.
Chosen elective units should reflect the responsibilities of the individual.
By the end of this qualification participants will be able apply a range of methods, tools, materials and information to:
lead complex enquiries and complaints, giving direction, managing meetings and making workplace and public presentations, as well as speaking, listening and reading non-verbal cues, reading, writing and visual literacy. It includes the use of written communication involving the evaluation and composition of complex workplace documents, interpreting and evaluating workplace information, composing complex written materials and editing.
lead the value of workplace diversity and the contribution it makes to effective work practices, the generation of new ideas, and the organisation’s responsiveness to the community. This includes promoting the benefits of workplace diversity and contributing to diversity outcomes.
lead the collaborative planning process with other workgroup members to integrate individual plans and build working relationships and identify work methods and practices and negotiate goals and outcomes to implement plans, in consultation with others. This includes providing feedback to workgroup members in regard to quality of client service delivery.
lead the collection and analysis of information to achieve work unit objectives and meet client needs. It includes identifying and collecting information, analysing and interpreting information, developing and applying workable solutions, presenting information and maintaining information. This also includes carrying out more detailed analysis of information as required using relevant techniques including mathematical calculations and methods for numerical/graphical information.
the exercise of delegations in the public sector, including confirming the delegation, applying other interacting legislation, policy and guidelines, and exercising delegations.
teach the application of knowledge of government processes to others, including applying information relating to machinery of government, and applying knowledge of organisational functions and protocols, Legislation and regulations applying across the public sector, such as equal employment opportunity, equity and diversity.

For Workplace Groups
A calendar of face to face workshops will be developed in consultation with corporate clients
Participants will have unlimited support from our team of dedicated trainers and administration staff for the duration of the program.
Participants will be required to reflect on the topics covered and how they apply to their current work practices. They are also encouraged to discuss the topics with their supervisor and colleagues to gain a broader understanding.
As a formal component of the program, each participant will be assessed to make sure they meet the requirements of the qualification. Assessment formats include:
Skills recognition (RPL) – allows participants to gain credit for skills and knowledge you already have
Knowledge questions – written questions to demonstrate the essential knowledge requirements outlined in the unit of competency
Performance tasks – a series of observable tasks to demonstrate the practical skill requirements outlined in the unit of competency
Approximately 12 months.
Depending on your current level of experience, course work can take up to 10 hours per week.
Learners can commence at anytime.
No formal qualification or pre-requisites are required.
Once you enrol, our team will arrange a meeting to discuss your needs and goals.
Please ensure that you have a computer, access to the Internet and a smart phone with video, web cam.
You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning and we can discuss your qualifications and experience when we initially meet.
